Everyone remembers Lincoln and Kennedy, but few recall the assassination of President McKinley in 1901.
A new history e-magazine, We’re History, has just started up. Its objective is to present history written by historians for a general audience. And wouldn’t you know, one of their newest articles is by your truly, on how the United States Secret Service got the job of protecting the President. And if you enjoy that, check out some other articles on the site as well.
Congratulations on the (not really an appointment, is it). And is that the real Secret Service? Or the Silly Secret Service? (Pythonism unintended)

Call it a new outlet, one we hope will gain a higher profile as more articles appear and more historians get involved. And that’s the real Secret Service, not the “Silly” Secret Service. I had to learn about the history of the former as I created the latter.
(For those of you wondering what crimsonprose is talking about, the “Silly” Secret Service is a fictional creation that appears on this blog’s counterpart, Sillyverse. Why it may be called the “Silly” Secret Service is explained here: http://sillyverse.com/2013/08/18/a-forgotten-chapter-in-the-history-of-the-sillyverse/
